Paraplegic Motorbike Adaptions

Adaptions, Gear, News, Videos

If the Martin Conquest MotorTrike doesn’t do it for you, and you still want to get back on the road in something other than a car then how about getting on your bike. There is no doubt that a significant number of people suffering SCI injuries got hurt in motorbike accidents, yet the enjoyment of hitting the road on two wheels is still a huge draw form people in wheelchairs.

More and more para’s, and even some quads, are getting back in the saddle and finding ways to ride two wheeled motorbikes with some ingenious adaptions.

Lee Beaver was a motorbike stunt rider and expert in all things two wheeled before he got injured and became paraplegic in a riding accident. He has adpated his sports bike with automic shifting, “training wheels” that raise and lower when needed to stop the bike from dropping and added a hand controlled rear brake to the handlebars.

A pretty sweet set-up that has allowed him to get back on his machine and leave the wheelchair at home while he hits 185mph.

Hopefully adaptions like this, and the Dreamfit paraplegic motorcycle adaptations we talked about, will soon make it to production so more people can regain the helmet hair look.

If a full-blown sports bike is out of your budget, or like us you aren’t technically gifted enough to make all those snazzy adaptions, then you can still get your kicks on two wheels.

My friend recently became a T11 paraplegic. Can someone connect me with Lee? I’d like to talk about his modifications.
