If you’re a fan of a weather reliant sport then you’ll be used to constantly (and probably obsessively) checking weather forecasts to try and plan your weekend. From storm chasing skiers to wind cautious paragliders, resources like weather.com have become a great tool to let us know when conditions are going to be awesome, and when we should stay indoors to avoid getting pounded/drenched/blown away.
But there’s more to weather.com than simple weather reports, some great tools can help ensure a more successful trip. Sky Watch, Fishing Forecast and a Mosquito Activity Forecast can be helpful little bits of information when planning a get away. But what if you have no idea of where to get away to. New to the area, new to the outdoors, or maybe just in an area for a short time and need to find the nearest outdoor park or fishing spot? A great resource is the Weather.com Outdoors Guide.
For those in the USA just enter your postal code or destination name (we suggest the postal code method, most times we got no results from a destination name even though a postal code search of the same area turned up the goods) and be rewarded with a list of nearby outdoor resources.
It’s less than perfect, providing a list of areas, but no links other than to the weather forecast for that area, but it could act as a starting point for further research if you haven’t been to the area before.
