The home page of Lasher Sport, makers of some of the sexiest wheelchairs in the world, has been updated with some teasing information on a new All-Terrain wheelchair from the Alaskan based firm.

A picture described as the “first sighting” of a wheelchair that’s being called the ATB-Mg Ultimate is accompanied with scant details:

Wild new paint options
More capable off-road 

OK, so we’re not thrilled by the “wild new paint options”, but other than that we’re excited. Lasher are a great little firm that make exceptionally good wheelchairs. The ATB (All Terrain Beast) is an amazing wheelchair for off-road and all-terrain use and narrowly missed the #1 spot in our list of the best all-terrain wheelchairs. 

Obviously this new ATB Mg is made from Magnesium alloy, which will make it especially light. We’re hoping this thing will come in at around 20 lbs, which would make it the lightest all-terrain chair ever (the current aluminium ATB is 28.5 lbs for a 16 X 16 seat).

The current ATB also comes with optional extra’s of disc brakes, carbon seating, special paint options and pretty much anything else you want to ask the lasher guys to do for you. So it’ll be interesting what the “New” options and accessories are going to be. With a base price of US$4995 for the original ATB, we dont think the ATB Mg is going to be cheap either.

What’s our wish-list for the ATB Mg? Glad you asked;

Suspension - We need shock absorbers people. seriously.
Anti Roll Back - If we’re going up hill we don’t want to go 10 inches backwards for every 20 inches forward.
Hand-cranks - If ever a chair had the width and space for these then it’s the ATB range. Make life easier.
